Lickety At the Library: Our Elkhounds can be Volunteers, too
In programs such as puppy pals, children practice reading skills by reading stories to a dog.  The dogs love listening and never judge a child's reading ability!

NERR at Buttonwood Park Pet Fest on May 15, 2011
Organized by the Coalition for animals, this event in New Bedford, MA raises money for the benefit of injured, sick, homeless, abandoned and neglected animals.  The NERR booth was staffed by volunteers Barbara Plant, Claire Herold, Eleen & Tony Mello.  Elkhound ambassadors J.J., Kate and Jared Mello greeted people and made new friends.
NERR at Save a Dog's Paws in the Park Walk, May 22, 2011
Held at Longfellow's Wayside Inn in Sudbury, MA, this fundraiser for homeless pets included a pet walk, games, adoptable pet parade and demonstrations, as well as vendor booths.  NERR volunteers were Cotton Silverman, with Elkhound ambassador Lickety, and Linda Naughton.  They were delighted to be joined by Ruth and Bert Hirtle who came with recently adopted Leo.  Leo assisted Lickety in greeting and introducing people to our great breed.
