Sampson is a three year old, male Norwegian Elk Hound who came to Second Chance because he became inappropriate over his food with the children in the home. A stunningly handsome specimen of his breed, Sampson will require extensive grooming and maintenance of his coat, to maintain his beauty and also to prevent matting. Good thing he loves to be brushed! An active and vocal man, Sampson thoroughly enjoys human companionship and responds very well to massage and love. Continued obedience, further socialization, and marking training will be necessary for a complete education. He was, in fact, mostly an outdoor dog. We recommend an active, adult only home. Cats are fine and other dogs may be possible upon introduction. If you are looking for a lonesome prince to fill you halls with activity, then come and meet our stately, Sampson!
Sampson is up-to-date with routine shots, house trained and spayed/neutered.

Maven is between 5 - 6 years old. Maven is in good condition, he likes other dogs and does not chase cats. He is very well adjusted for the very cramped living conditions. He does well with children.
Leo
is a
9 year old, pure bred Norwegian Elkhound, who is good with children,
cats and other dogs. He is fully house broken, leash trained and knows
basic commands. He
is a
barker. Though this is a natural trait of
Elkhounds, he would do best in a rural area.
UPDATE on LEO - Leo has been at the Bodays' NERR shelter for several months. During this time he has become very calm and has adapted to his surroundings exceedingly well. His barking "problem" has all but disappeared. He will bark, however, like any other dog when someone new comes down our driveway. Leo takes to his leash easily and loves to walk about the property. He interacts very well with our female, Baby, and with all of the people who have approached him to date. He is lovable, sweet, and will make someone a great pet.
